Amazonas
Heart of the world's largest rainforest
← All States
Amazonas is Brazil's largest state, covering over 1.5 million km² of Amazon rainforest — an area larger than Iran. Manaus, its capital, is famous for the Teatro Amazonas opera house built during the rubber boom and for the "Meeting of the Waters," where the dark Rio Negro and the sandy-colored Solimões flow side by side for several kilometers without mixing.
